 ‘Greener fuel means cleaner environment’

Air quality across India and the world keeps degrading year by year, month by month, day by day.

St. Mary’s School, Dwarka, a green school focuses and inculcates the core value of sustainable development and sustainable living.

With a goal to spread this value, the students were asked to design an E- vehicle using Minecraft and this was executed as a project for summer holiday homework from 1st July 2022 to 7th July 2022. This activity helped the learners to understand the importance of electric vehicles and to spread awareness about how electric vehicles can help reduce air pollution. It helped in understanding how important it is to save trees which is an integral source to sustain human life. Students of std. VIII were enthusiastic and took the initiative and prepared a virtual model of an electric vehicle.

The students were asked to collect data on the cost to run per kilometer, calorific value, fuel efficiency of the car, noise pollution etc. and the most important ‘level of air pollution’ generated by this electric vehicle were compared with that of the vehicles running on various fossil fuels and they elaborated it graphically. The students interpreted the graph and found  that the electric vehicles were much better than CNG and other gasoline vehicle as it doesn’t make noise pollution and air pollution. Even there is more mileage of electric vehicle than other vehicles. It has very high calorific value and high fuel efficiency. The enthusiastic learners shared their findings with their fellow mates through ppt in the class. 

This activity enlightened the student that saving trees is extremely important as planting new trees for greener, cleaner environment. The activity/project conducted during the week was not just an activity, but it served as a reminder to boost our actions for better and sustainable living.
