Survey to Check Air Pollution by Std. VII

 

It is obligatory for vehicle owners to get their vehicles checked for the pollution their vehicles are emitting. It is our social and moral responsibility to spread awareness on how we can keep a check on the pollution that is caused by we humans.

Taking this responsibility into account, the students of class VII of St. Mary’s school, Dwarka, conducted a survey to check the air pollution certificate of their relatives, neighbours, and school teachers. As an outcome of this survey, the students found that there were some people without pollution certificate, some kept an expired pollution certificate while there were some who had an updated pollution certificate.

Thereafter, these people were made aware of the harmful pollutants and its quantity, their vehicles emit and how they can keep a check on these emitted pollutants to help save the environment.

The people who kept their vehicle’s pollution under check by keeping an updated pollution certificate, were awarded with a badge as a token of appreciation.

A post survey drive was carried out to make the endeavour a cyclic process The students identified the defaulters from the list of the pre-survey, which was conducted on their relatives, neighbours, and schoolteachers. After the survey they found that almost 95% of the vehicle owners got a renewed pollution certificate within a span of 15 days.

Thus, we see that how a small drive created a ripple effect and inspired people to take smaller steps to a bigger effect.
